Are interested in blogging as your role as an Extension agent or specialist?
Blog Planning Questions
If you're a blogging novice and/or are curious about what it takes to be a blogger for Extension, review the questions below to get started.
- Who's your audience? This is very critical since we have bloggers on our site blogging about similar content.
Pick your audience carefully and create your branding, marketing, and your content
focused to serve that audience.
- What is the name/branding for your blog?
- Will you supplement the blog with social media or newsletter content?
- If so, do you know how to use Constant Contact?
- If so, do you know how to use Constant Contact?
- Do you have a graphic or logo? If not, can you get one created via Communications.
- Do you have time to devote to this for the forseeable future? Think about topics and how often you want to post. Ideally more than twice per month.
- Will you have guest bloggers? Will more than one person be writing stories?
- What section of the website will the blog reside? (County page, specialty section, etc.)
- Whose default contact info do you want on the blog template pages? Each post may have a default person’s info.
- What ‘tags’ do you want for your stories? (example, community development, exercise, pesticide application, etc.)
- Do you have content ready to post? Due to people requesting blogs then not using them, we now require a MINIMUM of three blog articles ready before you request a blog.
