Events Marketing on Facebook
Want to market your event on Facebook? You've come to the right place!
What is Events Marketing?
Events marketing is promoting your event to increase awareness of said event and to encourage more people to attend, talk about, raise excitement and intrigue about your event, and to keep people talking about your event even after the event is over.
Before, During, and After the Event
Before the event: Create a Facebook Event two months before the event, if possible, and periodically promote it on your Facebook Page in the coming months, weeks, and days leading up to the event to drive excitement and interest in your event. These promotions include, but are not limited to: behind-the-scenes footage, save-the-dates, speaker bios, event schedule, and more! For a list of more ideas, scroll down to the section on "Promo Ideas."
During the event: Go live, post in-the-moment videos and photos, post photos and videos on in-the-moment footage in your Page's Story.
After the event: Post about the event a day or so later, create "Remember when?" videos and photos of the event, use the videos and photos you took to help promote new, similar events.
Facebook Events
Facebook Events are the best way to let people know about the event your page is hosting. We have resources available for creating an event on Facebook. Check it out!
You can use the Discussion section of your Facebook Event to help promote all the ins and out of your event. This is a great way to engage your followers and prospective attendees, and there is an unlimited number of ways you can promote in the section. The most important thing to keep in mind is that the info in this section needs to be relevant to your event. See some ideas for promotion below in the section called "Promo Ideas."
Schedule for Marketing
We recommend beginning promotion at least 2 months before your event and periodically promoting according to the following:
- 2 months before
- 1 month before
- 2 weeks before
- 1 week before
- 2 days before
- 1 day before
- the day of the event
This is a rough and general suggestion and does not necessarily need to be followed to a "T." See the calendars below for a visual of when we recommend promoting your event.
