Video Captioning

What is a video caption?

Captions are a text alternatives of a video's audio content and are synchronized with your video. Captions are typically seen as a running text at the bottom of a video. In order to meet our accessibility standards, its important that videos always include captions to prerecorded videos or provide real-time captions for live videos.

Captions offer users:

  • A text description of the spoken word.
  • Descriptions of background music and sounds that are important for the context of the video.
  • The same level of information that an auditory user would need to understand the content.
