Legacy Web Content Remediation Process

What is "legacy content"?

"Legacy content" refers to the documents, images, and resources that are on the UAEX website that where created before accessibility was considered. These resources are not fully accessible and need to be remediated to meet our accessibility standards.

What is "remediation"?

"Remediation" is the process of adding accessibility features to documents that do not have accessibility features already added to them. This could mean going back to add titles, header levels, alt text, or table data. If you "remediate a document", you are adding necessary accessibility features.

What does this process mean for my content?

The following workflow process was approved by administration in September, 2022.

If your legacy content is inaccessible, our team will reach out to you about correcting the issue. You will have the support and resources you need to correct your files. We will build a remediation plan together that fits your program area's needs and gives you plenty of time to make corrections.

If we do not hear from you after one month, we will send an email and cc your direct supervisor.

If we do not hear from you after two weeks, we will follow up with a direct phone call.

If after two weeks past the phone call we have not created a remediation plan or corrected the issue, the legacy content will be removed from our site. You will need to contact IT to access the archived content. The content will need to be made fully accessible before it is allowed on the website.

Who can I contact about retrieving my files?
